ARTogether and Asian Health Services invite you to join a panel discussion with AAPI creatives and clinicians about art, storytelling and their importance for our mental health and wellness.
We are each made of a multitude of stories that influence our ideas about who we are and where we belong—in the world and in our communities. In turn, the world and our communities directly influence our stories.
With so much happening around us, it is totally normal to have many, sometimes conflicting thoughts and feelings. When these thoughts and feelings become overwhelming, it makes it hard for us to listen to and understand the most important story – our own.
Artists Edward Gunawan (“Press Play”), Esmé Weijun Wang (The Collected Schizophrenias), and Michelle Lin (A House Made of Water and “We Wont Move”) will share their work in media and literature that explores their wellness journeys. Following will be a panel discussion on how art and storytelling can influence the way we understand and express ourselves; and, what an important tool they can be for our own mental health and wellness. Jennifer Chen, PsyD (Clinical Supervisor) and Shirley Chen, APCC (Mental Health Counselor) from Asian Health Services will participate in the panel discussion and share community resources and wellness practices.
